Lots of couples have the time and finances to enjoy frequent weekend breaks in the country or by the sea. A self-catering cottage that allows dogs to stay is ideal for the purpose and one of the nicest forms of accommodation for a break.
The ideal location for a holiday where your dog will be happy is where the dog can enjoy frequent walks, especially off the lead. Beaches where dogs are permitted are perfect for this purpose and many dogs love to go into the sea. Dogs are understandably not permitted on the main beaches at seaside resorts although they are during the winter at some of them. There are always quiet beaches and coves that have not been developed for public use where you can take your dog, a few examples of dog friendly beaches in England are listed here..There also those vast swathes of countryside found in national parks, although dogs often have to be kept on leads because of sheep on the hillsides. Forests are excellent places for walks with your dog off a lead as long as you don't stumble across deer or small animals that they might chase. The New Forest on the south coast of England is a good dog holiday destination because it offers long walks through woodland and plenty of pet friendly cottages in the New Forest are available should you wish to stay for a few days.
The Isle of Wight, across the Solent from the New Forest, is another wonderful dog holiday location. There is masses of countryside, downs and numerous beaches where dogs are permitted. Take a look at Isle of Wight pet friendly holidays and you will soon discover places where you would like to take your dog on holiday.
We are very fortunate in Britain, in that there is a huge number of country cottages and seaside lets to rent for holidays. This incredible choice means that there is essentially a cottage for every budget. The cost of hiring a cottage compared with a caravan is not that much higher and provides so much more in terms of spaciousness, comfort and quality of accommodation. Certain pet-friendly cottages also have fully enclosed gardens where your dog can be left safely. A minority offer kennels and a run where your dog can be left whilst you go out to dinner or sightseeing alone. On your return there is the joy of being warmly welcomed by your ever-loving best friend.
